Back in the days the automation side was all Perl/BASH/Expect, for the last 5 years it’s been all Python and Ansible. My spare time projects were in C, now I’m using Rust.
I’ve most recently been working on network architecture, BGP analysis, and product development, but I love all areas of networking. My current role requires that I be pulled in to help fighting operational fires almost constantly with no sign of improving, despite my efforts to improve things, I’m not adding value here any more so time to move on.

I'm a full-stack developer with 7+ years of experience in startups trenches.
Here are the biggest projects I've worked on + a single feature that demonstrates my impact on product and/or technical chops :
Fanfest – fanfest.vip - Community engagement platform for soccer fans. Built a browser-based live streaming engine that lets streamers broadcast directly from their browsers in both 16:9 and 9:16 at 1080p (and lower resolutions), with simultaneous streaming to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, and X.com.
Pequity – pequity.com - Compensation management platform for mid-to-large organizations. Built V2 for offer approval chains, reducing complexity and fixing HUGE performance issues. For example, in the worst case scenarion in V1 for a single request it would take 2 minutes to finish. In V2 it's 970ms.
Haekka – haekka.com - Security and compliance training integrated with workplace tools. Developed a system for automatically assigning users training based on non-compliant events like exporting sensitive keys they did in AWS/Slack/Gmail.
Flox – flox.app - App facilitating social connections by helping friend groups meet. Used Postgis to build an algorithm for auto check-in system for event attendance.

Staff Software Engineer with 10+ years of experience building infrastructure libraries, tooling and internal services. Focused on improving performance of devs and teams. Proficient in DevOps domain: CI/CD, monitoring, observability and SRE. I am passionate about taking on entirely new problems, tech and concepts to make them useful and convenient for others.

I am a cloud/devops/devex engineer (6 years experience) with a strong programming background in Python (4 years) and organically obtained Go skills.
I have 3 roughly equivalent paths to continue:
- striving to build an extensively automated platform covering the whole SDLC (from version control hosting, through build, CI/CD, providing infrastructure and ending with upkeep, monitoring & convenient maintenance). Ideally cloud-agnostic, possibly Kubernetes-based,
- turned out I feel great working on the internal tooling and automating whatever process is required to automate (mostly CI/CD in practice), would be happy to take on a Developer Experience Engineering role,
- slide back into programming roles utilising what I know best, but happy to learn something new (Rust, Elixir, Haskell) if opportunity presents itself,
Have done & can do full-stack work (helped last company grow from three engineers and through acquisition) but lean towards backend/infrastructure in expertise. Most recently platform technical lead (IC).
MEng EE & CS blend. (No professional EE experience, but somewhat maintained as a hobby.) 8y post-intern experience in web software.
Looking for something new to sink my teeth into in an organisation with room to grow. Remote opportunities only please, and that I'm eligible for residing in the UK & as a British citizen, though I'm perfectly willing to travel for particular events/big meetings. Cheers!
Also open to FP or logic programming (lisp/clojure, haskell/scala, prolog). Especially highly formal/industrial model-driven environment.

What I’m looking for:
• Roles: Senior / Staff Backend Engineer or Tech-Lead positions
• Engagement: Long-term, direct hire or contract-to-hire with meaningful equity; I enjoy building products and teams, not just features
Why me:
• Designed & scaled a payment platform serving 1000+ merchants and processing billions of USD in the last 4.5 years in the middle east.
• Habitual refactorer: cut 700 Django migrations to <200, shaved 60 % off deploy times, and drove P99 API latency below 150 ms
• Clear, async-first communicator; fluent in English
• Enjoy mentoring, code reviews, and turning business specs into maintainable architecture. Work should be fun.
If you need a senior engineer who can own a codebase, level-up the team, and ship reliably, let’s talk.

Over 15 years I've worked both in large corporations in cross-functional teams, small teams (5-10) at small to medium companies, and alone as a freelancer taking on projects across many different technologies. My focus in the past few years has been on being a force multiplier for my team and increasing predictability, stability, and developer enjoyment of output. I'm also a big proponent of mentoring and frequently create tech talks from the daily work notes I take so that the lessons from any challenges I face benefit not only me, but my team as well.
My preference is functional languages and companies that use Nix and/or NixOS, but it's more important to have a healthy company and team than any specific technology.
I also do Parkour in my free time, and I have given lessons to coworkers in the past who are interested :)

Full stack web dev here with a bias towards the backend. On my own time I prefer to use python for web work and GDScript/Godot for game dev, but I'm a big proponent of using the right tools for the job. I'm good at turning domain knowledge into software and quickly getting up to speed on preexisting code bases. Ideally looking for a role doing something socially conscious.
* At my last job I led a team and helped build a Windows desktop app that pulled data from native node modules and added overlays to games. I used Electron, Node, Typescript, React, and Redux to build it, AWS for CI/deployments, and finally TrackJS and Sentry for logging/monitoring. I also started learning Rust from working with other engineers on the native node modules.
SEEKING WORK | Full-stack Python/Django Developer (Creative AI Focus: GenAI Image & Video Generation)
I am a SR. SWE building production systems and workflows with GenAI. I am currently specializing down the road of creating digital characters and universes through diffusion models (both video as well as images). On my blog (https://edwin.genego.io) you will find extensive case study material on the topic, as well as a showcase of my own creative skills. Keep in mind that I come to this through the lense of applied-GenAI and not a pure AI/ML background; although I have worked with AI/ML teams well before 2022.I am currently looking for a startup, company, agency or anyone really that is doing world, universe or character building with AI. Whether this is through GenAI models by building IP or something else. my current work spreads 50+ custom management commands for AI image generation, character IP systems, scene replication with layered prompt architecture; which is more or less openly documented on my website. What I am also looking for is fractional or project work (2-6 week cycles) involving generative AI, creative tooling, or content pipelines. https://edwin.genego.io/blog

Staff engineer with 14+ years experience building high-scale backend systems (Java, Kotlin, Python, AWS, Kafka, DynamoDB) and full-stack products in React + TypeScript used by millions at Amazon, AWS, and Indeed. Looking for roles where I can own architecture, ship quickly, and work across frontend + backend to deliver real product impact (AI experience included, but not the only thing I bring).
Indie devs with a upcoming Steam hit looking for a 1-year sponsor for a genuinely fun game that also teaches your tech.
**
Location: US (remote); Relocation: No; Tech: Various; Email: me@beasthacker.com

Résumé / CV: My brother and I are indie game developers. Latest game demo hit 5-figure wishlists in ~week and got organic coverage from several biggest gaming YouTubers. Full launch is planned for March, so we’re looking to identify our next project and start work around April.
We want to spend a year making an edutainment game that’s actually fun and actually teaches a real technology to a deep level (programming language, devtool, front/back-end skill, etc.). We’re open to building around a sponsor’s passions (e.g., “Paul Graham funds a lisp game”) or talk with devtool companies that want a playful, high-quality way for people to learn their tech. We're NOT interested in working on a game that focuses on AI or crypto.
To clarify expectations: * We keep full creative control and publish under our own name. * Sponsor provides 1-year stipends, a Steam marketing budget, and SME/resource support so we are equipped to represent the tech accurately.
If that sounds interesting, let’s talk.
Recently I built a vehicle–passenger on-demand matcher and a Kubernetes job platform for heavy optimization workloads. Before that I worked on distributed systems for chronic-care data (Scala, Kafka). Earlier, I spent a decade in transportation optimization across routing, planning, and scheduling.
I’m at my best when partnering with ML or OR teams, taking prototypes and turning them into predictable, production-ready systems. Strong domain modeling, correctness, property-based testing, and keeping on-call quiet.
Open to senior or staff backend or platform roles.
Happy to talk.

Hi folks, I'm Matt. About 7 years of experience working at the interface between data science and backend development. My most recent work has been around optimization of grid-scale energy storage systems - I was the technical lead for the team's first go-live in the ERCOT power market. A lot of experience taking something functional but bespoke (think e.g. a Jupyter notebook from a DS researcher) and applying rigorous software engineering principles to make it modular/scalable/maintainable, and dealing with the problems that result from applying machine learning in the real world (e.g. robustness to forecast error).
Primarily experienced in Python but I've learned a lot of languages at this point and don't mind learning new tools that fit that job.
Not afraid to get my hands dirty deep in the guts of algorithms/statistics/mathematics, my background is in electrical engineering with some signal processing experience. I've got years of math skills crying out to be used!
I'm looking for a role that lets me sink my teeth into challenging problems - some kind of math/statistical analysis/optimization/algorithmic bent would be ideal, I get a great kick out of testing out cutting edge new libraries, implementing an algorithm from a new research paper, that kind of thing.
Would love to connect, even if just for networking.
My background is a mix of C++ library development and full stack JS/TS. I'm quite fond of React and as of late I've gotten into AWS CLI via Claude Code. Please refer to my Linkedin for my work history (Google/Alphabet, Hudson River Trading/HRT, Facebook/Meta, Snapchat/Snap and others).
If you're looking for someone to do low level C++ work or high level Javascript/Typescript work, I'd love to chat and see if we can find a short or medium term contract that satisfies both parties.
Alternatively, I'm open to full time positions, but remote is a must. Thank you!

I resigned in 2023 to study Mandarin full-time in Taiwan, but am now back in the US and looking for my next engineering role. I studied CS and Creative Writing at Brown, where I helped build what was then the largest undergraduate UI/UX course in the country. Hello Hacker News! I'm a CompSci PhD (AI Multi-Agent systems... doing Agents' research back in 2004, before they were cool haha) and a passionate technologist with a warm spot for building high-impact products and teams.
For over 20 years, I've loved being a hands-on leader in FinTech, building everything from scalable crypto trading desks and AI/ML systems for fraud detection, to migrating entire platforms from monoliths to robust, cloud-native microservices. I thrive on aligning engineering with business goals and tackling complex distributed systems challenges.
Zero-to-One Success: Built foundational tech/AI/ML at a Fintech, enabling the company's Series A. Executive & Scaling Experience: CTO of a crypto trading desk; Head of Engineering, Product or AI/ML at high-growth FinTechs.
I'm actively looking for a remote role. I am most comfortable as first/founding engineer, also have been head-of/cto whatever the name building startup's technology teams. Right now I am most interested in doing AI/LLM work, like really pushing the status quo of both the Engineering and AI/ML. (I would love to get into something like SSI).

Over 20 years, I’ve led, architected, designed, and programmed across many projects, mostly in small teams (1–5). Most of my work focused on sports and TV, including video recording, archiving, encoding/playback pipelines, creating OTT portals, etc. Experienced in C# (web & desktop), JS/Typescript (Mithril, SolidJS), C++, and recently Rust (network bonding, audio intercom). Primarily worked with GCP (70%), AWS (20%), and Hetzner/OVH (10%). I enjoy building user-friendly, performant GUIs and backends with minimal dependencies, live event broadcast setups, networks, and remote global support. Currently pursuing 20–100 hours/month as a solo consultant, gradually building references.
I enjoyed creating projects from start up. I am not specifically good in single thing, but so far managed to make projects work and learn along the way.

Hi! I'm a computational scientist pivoting fully out of the wet lab into data engineering. My background is in systems neuroscience, building MATLAB codebases to analyze and quantify preclinical biomarkers in animal models.
Recent work:
• Cloud-native analytics pipeline for human EEG data - uses Python for ingesting, Snowflake to store cleaned raw data, dbt to model sleep architecture, average band power, and overall orchestration.
• Pipeline for time-series data visualizations, done in Python, Docker, and Nextflow.
Starting Georgia Tech's OMSCS program in January to deepen CS fundamentals.
I'm looking for a full-time position within computational science or data engineering. I'm particularly interested/strong in high-frequency time-series data analysis (e-phys, biosignals, energy grids, etc.). I'm a quick learner and am really eager to pick up additional stacks and technologies.
I’ve never worked at a FAANG company. If that’s a hard requirement, I’m not a fit and there’s no need to reach out. My LinkedIn is public; please review it before scheduling a meeting. Scheduling a call just to say “we only hire ex-FAANG” is a waste of both our time, and I’m comfortable calling that behavior out publicly.

Hi! I'm a backend engineer with strong DevOps experience and mid-level frontend skills. Looking for a backend or backend-leaning full-stack role.
I worked at Automattic, the company behind WordPress; fully remote, async teams across the globe.
Clean coder, impact-driven, generalist, autonomous. Known for writing scalable, maintainable code with good test coverage. I've built and maintained time-sensitive, high-throughput, distributed services (millions of ops daily) and owned features and small- to mid-sized projects end-to-end from design to deployment.
Most of my career has been in large enterprises (7+ YOE), but I’ve also done a fair amount of freelance work (around 1 YOE) for clients.
I have a couple of small open-source projects on GitHub.
Location: Los Angeles
Remote: Yes
Relocation: Case-by-case
I'm a CTO, expert engineer, and data professional interested in team-building, consulting and architecting data pipelines. At Edmunds.com, I worked on a fairly successful ad-tech product and my team bootstrapped a data pipeline using Spark, Databricks, and microservices built with Java, Python, and Scala.
At ATTN:, I re-built an ETL Kubernetes stack, including data loaders and extractors that handle >10,000 API payload extractions daily. I created SOPs for managing data interoperability with Facebook Marketing, Facebook Graph, Instagram Graph, Google DFP, Salesforce, etc.
More recently, I was the CTO and co-founder of a gaming startup. We raised over $6M and I was in charge of building out a team of over a dozen remote engineers and designers, with a breadth of experience ranging from Citibank, to Goldman Sachs, to Microsoft. I moved on, but retain significant equity and a board seat.
I am also a minority owner of a coffee shop in northern Spain. That I'm a top-tier developer goes without saying. Further, I'm also interested in flexing my consulting muscle and can help with best practices, architecture, and hiring.
Would love to connect even if it's just for networking!

I am a full-stack developer with 6 years of experience working on SaaS products. My preference skews toward back-end development. I have experience across the whole stack and software development lifecycle, including infrastructure management, supporting production, database evolution, and CI/CD pipelines.
At my current company I lead the effort in adopting DevOps principles such as trunk based development, continuous integration, continuous deployment, feature flagging, incremental rollout strategies, and tracking of DORA metrics. For me, it is not enough to develop features or bug fixes in isolation. Understanding the whole process of how the code that I write gets in front of end users and makes an impact for them is of the utmost importance.
I am looking for my next full-time opportunity. In person opportunities would be my preference, but I am also open to remote work. I would be particularly ecstatic about any opportunity that would allow me to further refine my Rust skills. Thank you!

I'm primarily a startup contractor but open to a FTE founding engineer position with the right early stage startup. I'm flexible on salary but equity only is not an option. Open to Fractional CTO with the right pitch.
25+ years of experience in software development and been with the web since the early days.
15+ years in the startup space and nearly a decade building for non-profits before that. I can bring a breadth of experience that few can.
My preferred stack is Golang, HTML+CSS+JS and Sqlite but I have years of experience with Nodejs, React, Typescript, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, etc. Years ago I used PHP for over a decade then moved on and way back when I started out with Perl, Apache and Oracle.
Being an early-stage "one man army" contractor, I have a working understanding of ux/ui design, sysadmin and data science so I can fill those gaps when needed.
Been learning about diffusion models for a year now and would love to work in that space.
Drop an email or if you're in or near Manhattan, let's meet for coffee and talk shop.

Hi, I'm Dan. I have a little over 17 years of professional experience, 25 years if you count as a hobbyist. I've worked in a large range of areas from telecoms, non-critical aerospace, embedded systems, analytics, blockchain, finance, and much in between. Mostly backend, but also frontend and full-stack. I have been cofounder of multiple startups, have led small teams and worked both as part of larger teams and solo. I have a strong love for technology and am passionate about software development, building things, and learning new things. Lately I have been tinkering with integrating AI into my hobby projects via the Vercel AI SDK, including my own experiments for agentic coding tools. I'm always happy to chat about technology or work.

I'm an experienced software engineer, looking for a hands-on senior software engineer / tech lead position, backend-leaning, with significant frontend skills. I worked at companies of all kinds, from seed-stage startups to literal FAANG.
I always end up working in close interaction with product people, stakeholders, and (if lucky enough) prospective users. I'm used to working cross-functionally and cross-team, improving communication, coordinating work of several teams to build and operate the thing which the business needs. I prefer building the right thing without haste, but know how to prioritize shipping the most impactful changes sooner.
I value autonomy and high impact. I built things from a nebulous idea to a final implementation and production launch. I evolved large existing systems, including frontend, backend, and databases.
I'm glad to communicate with people, to mentor fellow engineers when appropriate, to coordinate work, but I'm not trying to become a full-time people manager. My north star is people like John Carmack or Rob Pike.

Hi, I'm Andrew Trettel. I'm a scientist with a PhD in mechanical engineering looking for any potential opportunities outside of academia and research labs. I am open to many different roles, including being a software developer or data scientist. I have over a decade of experience in scientific research, especially on the numerical side. I have years of experience in writing software for and running large simulations on high-performance computing (HPC) systems. I have also developed software for non-scientific purposes, like creating user interfaces for desktop applications and writing command-line tools. I have years of experience working with large datasets, including the tasks of calculating statistics and developing hypotheses/models/theories from data. I've worn many hats over the years and love learning new and interesting topics.
I'm spending a lot of time outside of work tuning up my math skills to get a PhD in Complexity Science, CS, or pure math, and I'd love to get into HPC or MLOps/AI/ML research.
If you're seeking a stable guy who'll grow and develop with your organization (I've never been employed less than four years), I might be the guy.
EDIT: Nice, got a scam email... en français. Thanks for the opportunity to practice.
[Unfortunately for this time and place,] I am pretty unenthusiastic about both AI/ML and “AI”, but I am interested in dev tools, IoT stuff, hardware-software systems broadly, education, green energy, A/V production & distro, new-wave social/indieweb, civic tech, … and probably amenable to a lot more missions I haven’t especially considered.
I'm comfortable jumping up and down levels of abstraction and I like making things work together well. I'll call myself "full-stack" but in truth I tend to be most interested in all "edges" (HCI, API, hw/sw).
I have never been very good at job-acquisition (and it's only gotten worse), but I am pretty sure I could add a lot of value a lot of places if given the chance.

Until earlier this year, I worked at Uber as a Developer Advocate for Cadence — an open-source workflow orchestration engine powering 12B+ workflows/month. I partnered with dozens of teams to support adoption, scale distributed systems, and troubleshoot production issues. Cadence is a key component of Uber's Michelangelo ML platform, and I worked closely with AI/ML teams to integrate it into fault-tolerant pipelines. I also supported internal model training efforts, including fine-tuning LLMs to answer Cadence-related questions and building systems to classify and prioritize developer support.
At DoorDash, I contributed to the migration from Django to Kotlin microservices on the Drive Merchant Services team, focusing on customer support endpoints. I also designed and implemented a modular refund rules engine for our largest partners, enabling flexible refund logic and supporting internal tooling.
I’ve previously built NLP pipelines at Jobscan to match résumés to job descriptions and score resume strength, and earlier, trained models to predict ad performance based on copywriting—my first foray into ML back in 2016.
After wrapping up at Uber, I took the summer off for personal restoration following a divorce. I'm now excited to return to a hands-on engineering role with a collaborative, technically strong team and a path toward engineering leadership (EM or CTO). I'm particularly interested in infrastructure, developer platforms, and applied ML systems in domains like healthcare, logistics, finance, or defense.
Outside of work, I enjoy navigating Puget Sound on my sailboat, wrenching on my motorcycle, and getting curious about obscure systems and trivia. Let’s build something meaningful.

Hi, I'm Jonathan. I’m currently doing DevOps work for an open source project and operate a small web hosting company. My skillset is focused on the DevOps side, with a bit of general dev experience primarily with Python. I have a PhD in Physic, my research focus was computational biophysics. On the side I also host my own infrastructure as a hobby, from the hardware to the nameservers and everything in between.
I'm a strong communicator, having collaborated across disciplines and presented work for both technical and non-technical audiences. Having worked at startups before, I’m comfortable wearing many hats (and enjoy the variety). I'm self-motivated and love to dig into new complex problems and learn new tools.

Hi all, I'm Matt May - a freelance AI consultant with 15 years of software engineering experience. I've worked with Fortune 150 companies, startups, and everything in between, and have done AI research at Stanford & Georgia Tech.
If you're planning or working on an AI implementation, I'd love to chat. My specialities include: AI integration/implementation, complex backend development, APIs, AI strategy, and legacy SaaS replacement.
I've worked remotely for years, but can travel as needed.
Drop me a line. Happy to jump on a video call anytime!
Location: EU
Remote: Yes, EU timezones preferred
Willing to relocate: Depends on the location (but with a strong bias for EU-Schengen/US locations)
Technologies: Java, Python (and variants thereof like Groovy, Clojure, Pypy), Node/TS | AWS/Lambda Serverless, GCE/Kubernetes | Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB
Resume: https://bit.ly/3B3o65M (It links to my CV repo at Github, pinky promise. You can also visit github.com/<hnusername>.)
I'm not actively looking (hence why my resume link is obfuscated like that) but I'm at least interested in getting a feel for the market right now. That said, I'm willing to consider a position with a great fit for my skill set and career goals.
Here's my pitch: I have experience in a multitude of industries and positions. From improving legacy infra and processes in an established telco company to scaling a fast-moving startup from 200K to 2M users. In my free time, I love writing Code That Is Poetry but day-to-day I am not an idealist engineer who doesn't compromise. Well-engineered code is clean and correct but correct above all else.
Oh, also, I'm great at writing documentation. I consider myself introverted but apparently my communication skills are above average for Software Engineers. I also pride myself on my humility and modesty.
I'm currently a backend engineer developing features and improving infra for an online game with millions of daily active users. I'd love to explore other technical positions in the games industry short of joining a AAA studio because (a) I don't want to crunch and (b) my skill set does not lay that way; other tech-creative industries would also appeal to me! Another particular interest is in B2C businesses where the 'C' is software developers. I'd love to chat and network about opportunities; if you think you have a product that could benefit from my skill set, drop me a line!

Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work, but I am open to work on any interesting project. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I value good teamwork over fancy tech, and I don't shy away from working on legacy code. I am primarily motivated by solving problems, so let me help you solve your problems.
I am open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.
While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
In addition, I want to use some of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. I also sponsor children that otherwise can't afford to go to school (see my website). If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.
I have a decade of experience founding and advising startups; a decade of experience as a software developer and tech lead; and a wide variety of supporting experiences. Let me help your business get to the next stage of success.

Hi, I'm Christian! I'm a senior software engineer with 9 years of experience and I help teams deliver maintainable and scalable solutions. My focus is backend development and DevOps - things like API development, third party API integrations, optimization, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and automation. My strengths include working with stakeholders across multiple business units, establishing best-practices, spearheading ambitious projects and features, and mentoring other engineers. I'm always happy to chat through difficult problems, so feel free to get in touch via email.
I've been very interested in the LLM space for a long time, and I'm looking to make a move to a position where I work more as a generalist, and work on some cool LLM / agentic projects.
In the LLM space I'm currently working on a general "What's the best chat app you can make if you don't care how much you spend on inference", and I'm hoping to find a company that's doing something vaguely along those lines.
My preference is for small companies (<10 people)
Most recently, I designed and implemented an LLM-assisted data pipeline that converted security bulletins into actionable intelligence for an enterprise cyber security product.
I enjoy working with Django, previously migrated live auth systems with zero downtime and took SaaS products from prototype to production.
I have founded a startup and grown the business from zero to profitable exit.
I'm seeking a senior backend, data engineering, of founding engineer role at a stable, product-focused company. I'm strong in API design, data modeling, and production AI integrations.
Please reach out if you would like to chat. I look forward to meeting with you.

I've focused for several years now on agentic and generative work such as simulating networked LLM-augmented embodied agents, interface research, too much to list here but always happy to talk more over email. While the rest of the industry is just starting to latch onto agentic systems, I can offer years of experience and product insight.

Experienced software developer, currently available for freelance work. I'd be happy to sign either a conventional months-long software development contract, or a short consulting contract.
My preferred coding style is high-rigour and highly-documented, which tends to be a great fit for contract work. I have a track record of delivering quality results under minimal supervision. My specialist skills:
- The Rust language, which has been my daily driver for more than a decade.
- Multimedia (2D rendering, vector graphics, video, audio, libav, Web Codecs...)
- Performance optimisation (parallel programming, SIMD, GPU acceleration, soft-realtime programming...)
Fields in which I'm highly experienced, but below specialist level:
- Web development, with a frontend bias (TypeScript, React, JS build systems, the Web platform, WebGL, WebGPU, Node, WebAssembly...)
- Native development (native build systems, FFIs, low-level Win32, basic fluency in C/C++...)
- Leadership, communication and technical writing, all learned in a previous career.
I should also mention a modest level of experience in computer vision, greenfield R&D, game engine development, programming language development, and data compression. I'm comfortable with ubiquitous tools like Bash, Make, Git, GitHub, Docker and Figma. (Sorry for the keyword spam; you know how it is.)
I'm currently offering a 50% discount for any contract which seems highly educational. My areas of interest include acoustics, DSP, embedded programming, Svelte, Solid, functional languages, Swift, and backend development in general.
I can be flexible on time zones. No interest in relocating long-term, but I'd be happy to visit your team in person for a few days to break the ice.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you :-)

Full-stack developer with 18+ years of experience building websites and applications across industries including media, finance, and e-commerce. I work across the full stack to create fast, accessible, and scalable solutions. Comfortable owning the entire development lifecycle—from architecture and infrastructure to UI/UX and performance optimization. Deep experience with custom CMS solutions, serverless architectures, and integrations with complex APIs.
Primarily looking for a full-time role on a team, but open to contract opportunities as well.
Location: Menlo Park, CA

Résumé/CV: https://www.geary.com/resume.html or https://www.geary.com/resume.pdf and https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelgeary/
Email: mike@geary.com
Hi, I'm Michael Geary. I've programmed in many languages and environments over the years. Some of my current interests are:
• Aviation and geographic data. For example, airspace and obstacle data importers for Wing; election results and voter information maps for Google; many interactive maps for other companies.
• Hardware interfacing. In a way, I am a "full stack" developer, but my stack may involve a front end to a piece of hardware rather than the cloud. I first got into programming via ham radio, so RF hardware remains an interest.
• Designing and building APIs. Too often an API is designed by exposing the internals of whatever system provides the API. My philosophy is the opposite: start with the apps. I like to build a series of sample apps before starting on the API. This way I can imagine what API will make those apps and others like them easy to build.
• Talk with users! I don't like to sit in a back room cranking out code. I want to make sure it's the right code for what my users need, and that it's easy to maintain and improve as we learn more about what they want.
Open to full time or contract.
I look forward to talking with you!

I'm an exiting CEO, with a marketing/engineering background. Led marketing at an acquired $350M+ ice cream brand, as well as launched a $1B vertical farming startup. Looking to get back into tech which I just love, no earlier than Jan 2026. I specialize in go-to-market (working always with quantitative data to make decisions), breaking through barriers, and leading/hiring teams. Having worked in various industries, with programming and engineering chops, I speak multiple "languages" well; people have described me as the missing piece of the puzzle who can distill the needs of various stakeholders/customers and move projects forward.

I’m a software engineer passionate about building reliable systems, developing tooling, and AI-powered applications. I enjoy tackling complex problems with clarity and precision, and I have hands-on experience across backend development, distributed systems, and modern AI workflows.
Most recently, I delivered several core features to Mastra, an open-source TypeScript framework for building AI agents, workflows, and MCP servers — including a PostHog observability exporter, Azure OpenAI integration, improved MCP auth propagation, and multiple developer-experience enhancements.
I also co-created Splinter (https://splinter-app.github.io/), a serverless ingestion pipeline that transforms unstructured data into embeddings for AI/ML applications.
Previously, I contributed to Mozilla Firefox, landing patches in features such as Picture-in-Picture, Reader Mode language detection, Private Browsing UI, and enterprise policy tooling, with work appearing in official Firefox release notes.
I also have experience building RAG-based AI chatbots, combining structured and semantic retrieval for accurate, context-aware responses.
Fully open to remote, hybrid, or in-office roles. Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

About: Making software for 36+ years.. Seen quite some things.. and attitudes. Always hands-on.
Looking for.. interesting work with interesting people. Maybe, principal or staff engineer, architect, CTO, co-founder, team/tech lead, head of engineering.. or very senior programmer.. (or Mentor? is this still needed? or playing Trainer). i like fiddling with things, mentoring people, and building stuff - out of nothing if needed :) Effecting change, esp. cultural. Life-coaching too.. And making good friends along. But no office politics, plz.
IMO The interesting part of making software, is the people, while technicals.. are solvable. And, Fun is important 4th factor in the Functionality-Price-Deadlines Triangle.
May relocate anywhere to stay with the team, once in a while, as IMO "remote" does not work well for knowledge/ culture/ relations -building activities.

Hello, my name is Jesse.
I describe myself as a competent generalist, and a lifelong learner. I'm frequently working on something I've never done before. I've worked at every level of the stack, from cycle-shaving hot loops that saturate instruction pipelines to the frontend of large web applications. My most recent professional experience has been about a year at a semiconductor startup; I wrote prototypes for an ISA, compiler, a cycle simulator and visual debugger.
In terms of hard technical skills, I can quickly become productive in nearly any language, and at any level of the stack. I'm comfortable working in heavily multithreaded/async soft-realtime environments where performance is a key acceptance criteria. I have a good understanding of modern hardware architectures, including GPUs, from main memory to registers and instruction pipelines. I have working knowledge of interpreters, dynamic language runtimes and garbage collectors. I'm convinced I can learn nearly anything (albeit some things more quickly than others), given an appropriate problem domain to apply it to.
In terms of business value, I can take hand-wavy visions of new products and turn them into working prototype(s), quickly. I'm comfortable refining those raw materials and delivering real value to customers, internal or external. I have a track record of successfully identifying 80/20 solutions and love the feeling of making tools that make peoples lives better.
In my personal life, I enjoy travelling, surfing, climbing, backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, pirates, and attending raves. I like the phrase "have strong opinions, weakly held".
If I was born to do one thing in this world, it's program computers.
Jesse

SEEKING FREELANCE WORK | UX/UI & web design
I help startups with the UX/UI and web design of their products. This includes web apps, websites, landing pages, copywriting, and I can assist with frontend development where needed. My background of launching my own products and being a full stack developer helps me create practical designs that balance usability, aesthetics, development effort, and performance. I work to fixed price quotes for self-contained projects.
---
The best live example of my work is Checkbot (https://checkbot.io/), a browser extension that tests websites for SEO/speed/security problems. The entire project is my own work including coding the extension itself, UX/UI design, website design (the homepage is optimised to load in 0.7 seconds, 0.3MB data transferred), marketing, website copy, and website articles on web best practices.
[ Rated 4.9/5, 80K+ active users, 100s of paying subscribers ]

I have 10+ years of experience, including a PhD in software verification and 5+ years working for myself helping over 25 companies including Just Eat, Triumph Motorcycles and Fogbender (YC W22). See my website for testimonials, portfolio and more: https://seanw.org
Note: For large projects, my partner usually assists me in the background (I’m working on starting a design studio with her in the future)
---
Email sw@seanw.org with a short description of 1) your project 2) how you think I can help 3) the business outcome you’re looking for and 4) any deadlines. I can get back to you in one working day to arrange a call to discuss a quote and how we can work together!

Hi, I’m Harshit. I have worked as a full-stack engineer for the past five years where I have built consumer-facing features, lead teams, and helped shape the tech culture of a small startup.
Apart from my experience in full-stack web development, I am also interested in AI and databases. I have made some recent contributions to LangChain and LangGraph.
I would be more than happy to work anywhere in the stack and in any domain. Looking for roles with high ownership, strong engineering culture, and meaningful technical depth.
Not me.
Many years ago this industry adopted management philosophies like Agile/Scrum in an effort to reduce a craft to factory work - and in the process reduced developer efficiency by many times. Now we have AI and every developer is instead a manager of very fast robot monkeys hammering out garbage. Why would I want to be hired in this environment? I'd rather starve.

Hi. I'm Craig. I'm an experienced Senior Software Engineer, Systems Architect and Microsoft Certified Professional with a passion for software development.
I work primarily, but not exclusively, with Microsoft technologies and the .NET / .NET Core frameworks, leading complex and challenging enterprise software development projects to successfully deliver robust, secure, scalable and efficient software solutions, encompassing over 20 years of experience in the field.
An accomplished team leader, mentor and architect, I'm skilled at taking a leading role in the overall architecture of a project, in driving team developments and employing proven industry disciplines and best-practices to deliver successful software projects that frequently exceed client expectations.
I'm passionate about distributed systems design, CQRS and event sourcing and a proponent of domain-driven design to ensure that solutions are laser-focused on solving real business problems. I'm an open source enthusiast and advocate using the best and most appropriate tools available, providing for an effective and pragmatic solution that delivers genuine and quantifiable business value.
Throughout my career I've helped numerous businesses of varying sizes in varying industries get their technology investment right and I can do the same for you.
Recent projects include:
+ Architected and executed a comprehensive overhaul of a core legacy system, migrating it to a robust microservices architecture. By strategically applying Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, and Event Sourcing, we enabled a prominent African FinTech company to seamlessly scale from 1 million to 10 million active users while achieving a remarkable 30%+ reduction in cloud expenses.
+ Successfully delivered an ambitious project to re-engineer a number of monolithic applications to cloud-native, event-driven distributed services for a leading hospitality software provider as part of a company-wide effort to modernise their entire software estate including training and mentoring staff on event-driven architecture and distributed system design.
+ Designed & delivered a large, global SaaS product to manage and automate music royalty collection and payment for one of the UK's largest and most demanding independent music publishers including full cloud geo-distribution & redundancy to ensure high availability & reliability for the worldwide client base.
+ Spearheaded the creation of a groundbreaking anti-motor fraud solution for a prominent UK law firm. This industry-leading platform combined a user-friendly web application, powerful API, and sophisticated data systems, including Europe's largest anti-fraud database, giving the firm an edge in fraud detection.

I am a seasoned (>15 years experience) full-stack staff-level software engineer specializing in the backend, systems architecture, AI, platform engineering, internal tools, prototyping, and data engineering. In addition to strong programming and architectural skills, I'm a force multiplier for any team in either role through the three T's -- teaching, talking, and tooling. I also hold a US patent in the AI space.
In the past, I've taught a number of scientists and students to code in python; I've led and managed a number of high-impact engineering teams of up to 12; and pioneered a number of no- and low-code solutions for stream processing, data model and query generation, form building, workflow systems, and front-end construction for a variety of industries, including those with strong regulatory requirements and complex business rules such as healthcare and fintech. >10% of all medicare applications and millions of individuals currently flow through pioneering no-code systems I conceived and built and have ran in production for over a decade.
More recently, I've built a no-code automated form-filler; a no-code web scraper (and an AI for generating such scrapers from a spec and 1-3 example urls from a page); and a workflow engine for coordinating LLMs and other generative AI processes, and on top of this a platform for both minimizing hallucinations and working with documents that are far too large for existing context window inputs or outputs using a novel, patented process that I invented; and applied these tools to various contracted projects requiring analysis and and cross-checking of information and other forms of integrity across textual and video/audio corpus data in a variety of domains (fiction and non-fiction).
I am also an improvisational pianist, published poet, and I've created novel algorithms and tools for studying and composing both music and poetry, which I have given a talk on at a recent functional programming conference.
I have extensive experience working for and running startups, software consulting shops, with some mid-sized company engineering experience as well; these give me a unique insight into speaking with customers and internal stake-holders, translating between engineering and other departments, gathering requirements, aligning stake-holders across departments on a vision and attainable timeline, and architecting/building/taking ownership over significant internal and customer-facing areas of responsibility.
If any of the above seems like a match for you and your organization or project, don't hesitate to reach out. I am available for both full-time positions and short- and long-term contracts.
I use F#, CQRS, web components. Location Norway emperon@gmail.com
