Obviously the world would be a better place if financial criminals were actually jailed, but can we at least stop caring what they have to say?

Ghosn is not the person you want to go to for business advice and I really have a a hard time understanding what goes on in the heads of people who think otherwise.

He’s not any different to any of the business leaders except he actually has experience and was unlucky enough to get caught but smart enough to have a backup plan. Don’t hate the player hate the game. They are 100s of ghosns out there in charge of top companies.

I doubt that very many CEOs engage in this behavior. It is obviously something which their boards and shareholders would be extremely upset about.

My experience is different, I worked at a ~$20M company where I was told the incoming CEO came from a company close to $1 billion. Curious, I searched his name immediately and found that he was under active SEC investigation for withholding payments to suppliers to make the company appear to have more cash on hand for a potential buyout. I can't tell you how much the board was tripping over themselves to kiss his ass and "learn from a guy in the big leagues."

When he arrived, the exec parking lot changed from Toyotas and 5 year old Lexus to AMG Mercedes, M-Series BMWs, the white-label almost racecar Porsches, and I distinctly recall being told the company could "not afford" my request for a $1 to $2/hr raise.

People erroneously think that wealth is contagious (it's not!) so will do almost anything to court "big time players" regardless of their actions and ethics.

its a pecking order of successful predators. like young hackers, performers or sports stars, but for the over-40s crowd. Don't you see the stage character photos there? he plays that every day, very well.. with a reputation that backs it. This is similar to a local wealthy high school getting a retired world football star to coach the boys, except that the assumptions of goals, methods and scoring are obnoxious and/or forbidden to most regular adults. predictable. Rabbits and wolves..
